Pastor Haney Begins July 1

I just heard the news that Pastor Haney will begin ministry at Zion on July 1 & am very excited to learn of his arrival.  I’ve mentioned in the Tidings that this is a rather schizophrenic time for me.  When I think of leaving Zion, I get emotional and know that it will be very hard, when the time comes, for me to leave–you are such a splendid congregation.  On the other hand, I realize, perhaps more than anyone else, how much your ministry needs a fulltime, local pastor who can lead you toward God’s future in the years ahead. I pray deeply that you, pastor and people together, will bless and be blessed as God’s Spirit brings new energy, imagination, and effectiveness to your service in Jesus’ name.      Pastor Chris

May is Volunteer Month

Do you ever think about how many volunteers it takes to keep our church running smoothly? Think, starting with the Church Council through hall the church services with acolytes, lectors, liturgists, ushers, communion servers, people who set up communion, those who make sure the candles are filled and working properly, those who make sure we have supplies on hand for communion, and candle care. There are choir members who enrich our worship services, they don’t just come on Sunday morning, they commit to practice during the week also. There are paraments that need to be changed and cleaned or ironed, banners kept up to date and cared for. The women who make quilts and also bring food whenever it is needed. The many hours that Kid’s Club leaders put in planning and teaching our young people. Many times spend their own money to provide needed supplies. Confirmation leaders and the Parish Pals who lead our young people on their faith journey. Remember those who count the money each week or the people who serve coffee for everyone to enjoy on Sunday mornings. The list goes on and on.  There is a place for anyone and everyone to share their time and talents for our church – have you done your share? Thank you, thank you, thank you to those who have.
